Symphony No.6 in F, Op.68 "Pastoral"/Franz Liszt

Ashley Wass, fortepiano

ORC 100024

This is a uniquely personal venture. Ashley Wass has grown into a major recording pianist since we first heard him, with an exploratory repertoire, bringing many British composers back from obscurity.

Once a year he indulges himself with a recital at Rochester in Kent, where he enjoys playing Restoration House's special Girikowsky Fortepiano with its four pedals allowing special effects.

There's not much that I need to say. Click on my link above to enjoy a stunning account of the last movement of the Pastoral on a delightfully informative video, with a lot of bacckground information, and I think you will be eager to acquire Ashley Wass's flamboyant account of Liszt's transciption.

If you have heard too many versions of the Beethoven symphonies, this will cleanse and refresh your ears.
