August de Boeck - piano works

Josef de Beenhouwer - piano

Phaedra In Flanders Fields 92064

August de Boeck (1865 – 1937), a Flemish composer virtually unknown in UK, is mainly a miniaturist and whilst not straying far from tonality, he shows great originality and subtlety in his extensive piano music.

There is not a dull piece in this carefully selected collection of his piano works; 74 minutes of real pleasure. The For children pieces should certainly be known by our piano teachers.

Sensitive pianist Josef de Beenhouwer has an extensive discography with this company which deserves exploration by collectors of early 20 C piano music and especially by piano teachers.

The disc is well produced and documented; recommended.
