This is a great collection of nicely varied new string trios from Sweden, one that caught my eye with the inclusion of our favourite recorder player Dan Laurin.

The pieces are all fresh and different, with some humour creeping in, all of it resulting from "galvanising effort to produce newly commissioned work" [Eric Wallrup]. There are good introductions to each piece and their composers, and the whole production is admirable (not least the cover image !).

A refreshing project and let's hope there will be exchanges with some of the enterprising ensembles being developed at colleges and academies in UK.

I missed them last year at Kings Place and hope they will soon come back to London and risk bringing us some of this special repertoire.
