World Bass Clarinet Convention 2005
The first World Bass Clarinet Convention will be held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. A unique event for bass clarinet players, professionals, students and listeners.
The convention takes place in concert-and congress building De Doelen and the Rotterdam Conservatory. There are several parallel programmes throughout each day. These will feature bass clarinettists from all the continents giving lectures, workshops, masterclasses and recitals.
Two competitions will run in conjunction with the convention.
The Compositions Competition has received over 70 entries and The First Henri Selmer Bass Clarinet Competition for which nine players where selected to compete during the event. During the Friday evening there is a concert with Josef Horák als guest of honour and the Saturday evening there is a special churchconcert with bass clarinet and organ. The highlight of the Saturday will be the chance to perform in the Record Breaking World's Largest Bass Clarinet Choir, with over one hundred bass clarinettists playing together.
